Training Philosophies

“In my view, a successful training strategy is measured by achieving desired behaviors in a conflict-free teaching environment.  When we set our dogs up for success by providing clarity, consistency and patience, we build trust and they enjoy learning and engaging with us.

We train one dog at a time.  The benefits are:  spending more time per day learning; living in a household alongside my well-trained and balanced dogs; sleeping in my bedroom in a comfy crate; going on field trips to practice new skills and social behaviors in a variety of situations such as parks, stores, restaurants, vet offices, etc.; ample time to work with each owner to enable a smooth transition home.  I always have time for owners before, during and after training.

Bottom line, I want the process of training to always be as beneficial as the final result.  There is no greater joy than looking into the eyes of a happy, smiling dog whose trust and respect you have earned.  A dog whose owner can now easily take over and have that relationship they pictured when they got their new family member.”

Imagine being dropped into a foreign land of friendly strangers. You don’t speak the language, practice different customs, and have some trepidation at leaving what has been familiar to you.

To varying extents, that’s the experience for every dog that comes to live in your home. Whether they came from a shelter or a breeder, they are expected to learn human rules and manners.  Perhaps your new pup doesn’t know how to act around children, be social with other dogs or pets, never lived in a house, or isn’t potty trained. The resulting problems can seem insurmountable to new owners.

At New Dogs – Old Trix, your dog will be taught like a student in school.  Subject matter is broken down into easy-to-understand lessons designed to set your dog up for success.  We use a reward-based training protocol that fosters confidence and trust.  We work as a team learning to communicate clearly and effectively even though we speak different languages.

Dog training with New Dogs – Old Trix will return a calm, happy, obedient dog and provide you the tools necessary to ensure long-term results.

Whether your dog has tried to take over your household or is paralyzed with fear, there are humane, confidence-building solutions that help the dog understand the strange world of humans.

New Dogs – Old Trix utilizes fun, proven, and respected dog training techniques designed to methodically teach in an easy-to-understand, customized format the expectations we humans have of our dogs while teaching them our language and customs.

Every dog’s breed, personality, and history introduces different opportunities and challenges to achieve the ultimate goal of bringing a dog into balance. New Dogs – Old Trix specializes in finding the right keys to unlock the challenges while motivating each dog to enjoy learning.

New Dogs – Old Trix is always evolving and learning new training techniques from highly respected trainers by attending workshops and seminars.  We bring you and your dog the best of the best!
